Baby Sign Language Promotes Parent-Child Interaction

Elijah has been signing to animals the past few weeks. Today, he decided to read and sign to books. Elijah handed me the book and we sat cross legged on the floor. Elijah opened the book, flipped to a page where he knew the sign “cat”, proceeded to flip pages again “horse”, “cow” and so on. He then came to the end of the book. Knowing he wanted to sign more he picked up another animal book, “giraffe”, “penguin”. This one went on until he became frustrated that he did not know more signs. I had to distract him with a big happy face blow up ball. The morning went by so fast!

Happy Signing
